본 연구는 침낭형 온수매트와의 차별성과 효용성을 검증하고, 그 효과를 입증하기 위해 데이터 분석 및 자료를 취득하기 위한 목적과 제품의 안전성을 평가하고자 하였다. 현재 시장에 출시되고 있는 온수매트의 문제점으로는 소음과 진동이 주원인으로 평가되고 있다. 또한, 온수매트에 부착된 펌프모터가 간접열로 인한 내구성 저하가 발생된다. 본 연구에 대한 기대효과가 온도 보존율에 의해 저전력 고효율로 인한 에너지 절약에 대한 일차적인 대안이 될 수 있다고 생각한다. 첫째로 일반 온수매트에 비하여 더 효율적인 열 보존율을 기대할 수 있으며, 기존 제품에 반해 열 보존율이 상대적으로 높아 전력 사용을 절약할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한 부수적으로 수위감지, 온도조절 및 내부 안전성 최적화 설계 및 매트 재질을 변경하여 가열열량 대비 열 보존율 증가됨에 따라 난방비 소비 절감에 대한 효과를 크게 기대할 수 있다.
