Journal of Electrical and Electronic Materials (JEEM) is a free access, peer-reviewed journal published bimonthly by The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Material Engineers (KIEEME) with issues released on the 1st of January, March, May, July, September, and November. JEEM aims to publish high-novelty and high-quality research and information across all areas of electrical and electronic materials and related technology in Korean engineering societies (but also including international academia). The topics covered by JEEM fall into two main categories: electrical materials and electronic materials in Korean engineering societies.
Electrical materials in Korean engineering societies: dielectric materials and applications, energy harvesting, power electronics, all technologies with simulation and AI, advanced packaging/substrate/circuit technologies, magnetic and superconducting materials (but are not limited)
Electronic materials in Korean engineering societies: rechargeable batteries, green energy/environmental materials, photovoltaics, advanced electrolysis and fuel cells, semiconducting materials and applications, soft materials for flexible and stretchable electronics, all technologies with simulation and AI, optoelectronics, 2D materials (but are not limited)
The publication fee for accepted articles is 300,000 KRW.
It is available at: https://e-jeem.org/policy/ethics.php
JEEM publishes four categories of publications: original article, review article, technical report, rapid communication, and letter to the editor. All submissions undergo a rigorous peer review process. Additional publication types may be considered in consultation with the editorial office.
Academic Progress Report: Review articles, which is overview and perspective statements on the research progress in a specified field by senior researchers. It is whether invited or submitted, should offer a thorough and comprehensive analysis of specific topics, synthesizing current knowledge and identifying future research directions.
Tutorial Status Report: Practical guides to fresh researchers for experimental setups and property measurements. It is whether invited or submitted, should offer important insights into specific protocols, methods, or case studies.
Regular Paper: Original research articles should present a comprehensive investigation and draw clear conclusions that contribute to significant findings in the field, which is bound for the scope of the journal.
Early Stage Report (Graduate Research / Undergraduate Research): Experimental results insufficient for regular article but good enough to contribute to the research database, failed results that help preventing other researchers from repeating the same failure, and undergraduate research works awarded by the KIEEME annual meetings.
Language Requirements: Papers can be submitted in English or Korean. However, for those written in Korean, it is mandatory that the abstract, keywords, illustrations (tables/figures), and bibliography are provided in English.
Formatting Standards: The manuscript must be uploaded in Microsoft Word format, while image files (figures) should be submitted separately. The document layout requires A4 paper size (210 × 297 mm) with 2.5 cm margins on all sides. Use an 11-point Times New Roman font and ensure the entire text is double-spaced.
Measurements and Terms: Authors must consistently apply SI units throughout the text. The use of abbreviations should be kept to a minimum; at the first instance of use, the full term must be written out followed by the abbreviation in brackets.
Policy on Generative AI Technologies: Authors may utilize generative AI platforms (such as LLMs, chatbots, or image generators) solely to improve the clarity and linguistic quality of their writing. However, the following regulations must be observed:
• Disclosure Protocol:
• Drafting Restrictions:
• Submission Integrity:
• Referencing AI Content:

*Excluding abstract, references, tables, and figure legends
Please arrange your submission file according to the following order: Main Manuscript: 1) Cover page (Title), 2) Abstract and key terms, 3) Body of the text, 4) List of references, 5) Tables (each placed on an individual page), 6) Captions for figures (note: image files must be uploaded separately), 7) Visual/Graphical abstract (Table of Contents). Additional Files: Any supporting data should be provided as separate uploads (Supporting Information).
The title page must contain the full manuscript title, a condensed running title, the names and institutional affiliations of all contributors, and the corresponding author's contact details. For papers submitted in Korean, the title, author list, affiliations, and contact info must be translated into English.
Abstract: For original research, reviews, and technical reports, include a single-paragraph (unstructured) summary of no more than 200 words. All information presented in the abstract must be supported by the data within the main text or tables. Refer to Table 1 for word limits regarding other types of submissions.
Keywords: Provide a maximum of five relevant terms at the end of the abstract.
Original articles should be organized using these specific headings: Introduction, Experimental Section, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion. Technical reports follow a slightly different structure: Introduction, Technique, Results, and Discussion.
Guidelines for Original Articles:
Introduction: Offer a concise background of the study, citing essential literature. Clearly state the findings of previous research and define the specific goals or questions your study aims to answer.
Experimental Section: Provide enough technical detail to allow for exact replication. Reference established protocols and describe any modifications made. Only provide extensive details for significantly new procedures. For standard techniques, briefly identify the method used and provide the relevant citation. New methods require a thorough, detailed explanation.
Results and Discussion: Report your findings clearly, avoiding redundancy with other sections. Interpret your data by comparing it with existing literature and within the scope of your experimental design. Subheadings may be used to enhance organization.
Conclusion: Provide a brief summary of the study's primary outcomes and its most important conclusions.
Submit all mathematical equations as editable text rather than embedded images. Every equation should be numbered chronologically using Arabic numerals, with the number enclosed in parentheses and justified to the right margin.

Acknowledgements (Funding): Provide a comprehensive description of the financial support received for this research. In this section, please recognize individuals who contributed to the study but do not satisfy the formal requirements for authorship. This includes persons who provided technical expertise, administrative assistance, or general departmental support. Additionally, authors must explicitly disclose any professional writing services utilized and identify the specific organization or agency that financed that assistance.
Conflict of Interest: Authors must report any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the work, such as professional employment, consulting roles, stock ownership, or personal ties to relevant organizations. If no such conflicts exist, the following phrase must be included: “No potential conflict of interest relevant to this article was reported.”
Data Availability: Clearly state where the supporting data for the study is located. If the data is stored in public repositories, please provide the corresponding hyperlinks.
Author Information and Contributions: Each contributor's specific role and professional rank must be defined according to the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) framework (refer to https://credit.niso.org/ and Table 2). To be recognized as an author, a contributor is required to have performed at least one fundamental research role (such as conceptualization, methodology, or formal analysis) along with at least one writing-related task (including initial draft preparation or critical review and editing). Individuals who do not satisfy both of these requirements do not qualify for authorship.

High-quality visual data is essential for technical publication.
Permissions
Authors are responsible for securing usage rights for non-original content.
The Graphical Abstract should feature a high-impact original figure—either 60 X 50 mm or 100 X 40 in size—that clearly communicates the study's primary message, accompanied by a concise 30–50 word summary of key findings tailored for a general audience. While authors may incorporate existing manuscript elements, they must hold the copyright for all visual content and are encouraged to design a unique illustration for maximum clarity; otherwise, they will be required to designate a representative figure from the paper to fulfill this requirement.
Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts through the official JEEM online portal (https://submit.jeem.org/), which offers a streamlined, step-by-step submission workflow upon user registration. Detailed guidelines are provided on the website to ensure all technical requirements are met; however, if any difficulties arise during the process, the editorial office is available for support via email at manage@kieeme.or.kr.
It is available at: https://e-jeem.org/policy/peer_review_policy.php
Upon final acceptance, manuscripts undergo professional editing, after which a proofread version is dispatched to the corresponding author for a thorough review. Authors are expected to scrutinize the text for any remaining misspellings or technical inaccuracies; please be advised that a delayed response at this stage may result in the publication being rescheduled for a subsequent issue.
Following the initial corrections, authors will receive a final PDF galley proof for a definitive quality check. A strict deadline of five working days is provided to notify the editorial office of any lingering errors regarding the title, affiliations, figure positioning, or reference list. While the corresponding author may request multiple revisions if necessary to ensure precision, they bear full responsibility for the accuracy of the final content once the manuscript proceeds to print.
To address inaccuracies in published articles, the corresponding author must submit a comprehensive description of the necessary changes to the editorial office. Depending on the nature and origin of the error, corrections will be formally processed through one of the following mechanisms: an erratum for publisher-related mistakes, a corrigendum for author-related errors, or a retraction in cases where the findings are no longer considered reliable.
